Severe storms hurt Buffalo, the second largest city in the US state of New York, which killed four people. Traffic is at a standstill because of the total overgrown streets, local authorities disclosed this information.
The areas south of the city, near Niagara Falls, snow fell at the height of one meter and a half in less than 24 hours, news agency AFP.
Three people had died of a heart attack while cleaning snow, and one person while trying to move a stuck car. The force is driving ban, and at least one person remained trapped after the roof of his collapsed house.
Authorities warned elderly residents to clean snow and Governor Andrew Cuomo said he called the National Guard to help.
